Joining the Theatre WorkShop

17 July 2011

Joining the Theatre WorkShop is an honor. Working with Onira, and Marie. Having the chance to be apart of the workshop is awesome! Learning new things and being someone new. For me Theatre is a way of being active and having something to do other then doing something else bad. Theatre is a good way for being heathly and active so, feel free of joining the group! you won’t regret it :)

So, days went fast, two days last. We are so close to the show!!! Today, the participants chose three legends that will be added to the show: Aukkautik, Nanualuk and Ningiuq, Kautjajuk. Now we have with us Zebedee who arrived yesterday. He helped a lot cheering up the group with his knowledge of inuit culture. We also had a touching account from Eyuka, the inuktitut teacher, about her childlhood and her language experience. Thursday and friday are planned to be rehearsal days. After a long run around the village, visiting the arena, the school…we finally decided to present in the lobby of the education adult center where the workshops took place. We are so excited because, with Caroline’s help (our camera woman), we found magnificent black velvet curtains. Also, we have a huge sound system (for a rock show) and probably the arena’s spot lights!!!

Pique-nique 2 of the community with fresh clams and hot dogs !

Today was amazing! We had to act out an Inuit legend called ”Kautyayuk”. At first it was a bit challenging but I know we’ll get the story together. These past two weeks have been a lot of fun, meeting new people and learning a lot of new things about theatre.  :D
